Track Permission Letter

We sent an email to Adam Woolf who is head of operations and label management over at Critical Music, the record label for the song we have chosen. He replied swiftly with confirmation of permission to use the song in a music video and offered to provide feedback when the video is completed.

Props & Costume

Costume

This is an annotated image which shows the kind of identity we want to give the artist in our video. This further connotes mysteriousness and gives an underground type feel relating to the genre due to the dark colours, the mask and hoodie.

Along with these dark pieces of clothing the character within our music video that is masked permanently will have this pig horror mask we have chosen which is very effective as it is subtle but realistic.

Talent Release Form

We have compiled a collection of talent release forms from the people involved in our video for security purposes. They have agreed to allow the footage to be collected and used in the final video.

Photoshoot Plan

This is our photoshoot plan. We have created this to give us a plan of when we're going to take photos for our cd covers/advertisements.

Advertisment Design

Again with the album advertisement we liked the idea of the all-seeing eye so that will likely be incorporated into our final design. Additionally we have a design of a vinyl record sleeve which is very conventional and relates to the genre. These are all in dark, more male orientated colours as they are the typical audience we have found through our previous research such as questionnaires.

CD Cover Design

These are our CD cover ideas. We have chosen to focus around the concept of anonymity and mysteriousness as that is what our video is based around. Therefore we are keen on the idea of the eye as it connotes omnipresence and as if it's watching you. Also typically drum and bass tracks are mixed on decks therefore we like the idea of dj decks and/or vinyl records.

Shooting Schedule

This is our shooting schedule. We made this so as we have a prompt and plan of when we're going to be shooting our video, as well as where and who is involved.

Storyboard Animatic

This is our Animatic which includes our storyboard we created. The storyboard contains our chosen music and then drawings of the kinds of shots that we wish to include in our video. We ordered our shots in a relevant position to what we wish them to be in to create an accurate plan of our finished music video. We will use this story board as guidelines to actually developing our video to make sure we have a clear foundation set out to work from. This will allow us to know the exact number of shots and durations of them to fill out our music correctly.

Here is our actual physical storyboard we created for our music video to enable us to plan more effectively. We then got footage of each section of the storyboard and compiled it into the animatic as shown above.

Location Idea

#1: Leake Street (Tunnel)

The Leake Street tunnel will be a location we definitely use as it is a tunnel which is full of graffiti and artwork which is a main aspect of our mise-en-scene. The lighting is also very low key and as our video is aiming to be mysterious and creepy, the lighting will aid us a lot in our following scenes to add that extra bit of atmosphere to the piece.

#2: Southbank (Skatepark)

London's Southbank is a great location for us to film as it is again full of graffiti and the mise-en-scene of the area links in with our genre and the conventions. Furthermore our genre relates a lot to alternative sports such as skateboarding and bmxing which all take place in the skatepark area of Southbank which you can see below.

Task Brief

To create a promotional package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with both a cover for its release as part of a digipak, and a magazine advertisement for a digipak.
